Installation Methods of Deep Groove Ball Bearings
Press fitting is a conventional precision installation method for deep groove ball bearings, which is operated according to different fitting tolerances of the inner and outer rings of deep groove ball bearings.
When the inner ring of the deep groove ball bearing adopts a tight fit with the shaft while the outer ring is in a loose fit with the bearing seat hole, the deep groove ball bearing shall be press-fitted onto the shaft first. After the inner ring is firmly installed, the shaft and the assembled deep groove ball bearing are integrally placed into the bearing seat hole. During press fitting, a soft metal assembly sleeve made of copper or mild steel shall be padded on the end face of the inner ring of thedeep groove ball bearing to protect the bearing from extrusion damage.
In contrast, if the outer ring of the deep groove ball bearing is tightly fitted with the bearing seat hole and the inner ring is loosely matched with the shaft, the deep groove ball bearing should be pressed into the bearing seat hole first. In this case, the outer diameter of the supporting assembly sleeve needs to be slightly smaller than the aperture of the bearing seat hole to ensure accurate positioning of the deep groove ball bearing.
When both the inner and outer rings of the deep groove ball bearing form a tight fit with the shaft and the bearing seat hole respectively, synchronous pressing installation is required. The assembly sleeve shall adopt a special structure that can simultaneously act on the end faces of the inner and outer rings of the deep groove ball bearing, so as to press the bearing into the shaft and the seat hole in place at the same time.
Thermal fitting is a common and efficient labor-saving installation process for deep groove ball bearings. The principle is to utilize the thermal expansion characteristics of metal materials to heat the deep groove ball bearing or bearing seat, convert the tight fit state into a loose fit state, and complete the assembly quickly. This method is especially suitable for the installation of deep groove ball bearings with large interference tolerance.
In actual operation, place the integral deep groove ball bearing or separable bearing ring into a constant-temperature oil tank, heat it evenly at a stable temperature of 80 ℃ to 100 ℃, and take it out for rapid hot mounting on the shaft immediately after heating. To avoid insufficient fitting tightness between the inner ring end face of the deep groove ball bearing and the shaft shoulder after cooling, axial fastening treatment shall be carried out on the deep groove ball bearing after it is completely cooled and shaped.
When the outer ring of the deep groove ball bearing is tightly fitted with a light-metal bearing seat, the heating operation should target the bearing seat instead of the bearing itself, which can effectively prevent scratches and damage on the matching surfaces of the deep groove ball bearing.
Standard heating specifications shall be followed during oil bath heating of deep groove ball bearings. A mesh grid shall be installed at a certain height from the bottom of the oil tank, or the deep groove ball bearing shall be hung with a special hook. Direct placement of the bearing at the tank bottom is forbidden to prevent heavy impurities from adhering to the interior of the deep groove ball bearing and avoid uneven heating.
A matched thermometer must be equipped in the oil tank to strictly control the heating temperature within 100 ℃. Excessively high temperature will cause tempering of the bearing ferrule, reduce the surface hardness of the deep groove ball bearing, and further affect the overall service performance and service life of the bearing.
