1. Dismount the bearings once they complete a certain operating cycle or reach the scheduled maintenance interval.
2. Fully soak and clean the bearings with diesel oil or kerosene. If conditions permit, remove the sealing covers for thorough internal cleaning.
3. Air-dry the cleaned bearings completely, then conduct a visual inspection to check for surface damage and defects.
4. Prepare a wooden stick or hollow wooden tube with a length of approximately 150mm and a diameter matching the inner bore of the angular contact ball bearing, and secure the bearing firmly at one end of the tube.
5. Spin the bearing rapidly by hand, place the other end of the wooden tube against the ear or an amplifier microphone, and listen carefully for abnormal rotational noise.
6. Keep the bearing fixed and move the wooden tube horizontally to inspect the bearing for internal wear and loose clearance.
7. Replace FAG bearings that suffer from severe looseness, excessive operating noise or obvious structural defects with new bearings of the same model.
8. Take an appropriate amount of high-quality yellow grease and melt it slowly with mild fire while avoiding overheating. Immerse the inspected qualified bearings in the melted grease until no air bubbles escape. Bearings taken out before the grease cools retain less grease, while those taken out after cooling hold more grease. The grease retention capacity can be adjusted according to actual usage requirements.
9. Wipe off excess grease from the bearing outer surface with a soft cloth or clean tissue. Reinstall the FAG bearing onto the pulley in its original state to complete the entire maintenance process.
