Precautions for Deep Groove Ball Bearings

During the operation of deep groove ball bearings, insufficient operating load will trigger relative sliding between the steel balls and raceways of the bearings, resulting in surface scratches and damage. This failure phenomenon is particularly common in large-sized deep groove ball bearings, as their steel balls and cages feature relatively heavy weight, which easily causes unstable operation and sliding friction.

Deep groove ball bearings are also susceptible to corrosion during storage and service, which seriously affects their service performance and service life. There are multiple inducements for the corrosion of deep groove ball bearings, and the most common daily influencing factors are summarized as follows:

1) Defective or poorly sealed sealing structures allow moisture, dust and other impurities to invade the interior of deep groove ball bearings, causing internal corrosion and abrasion;

2) Long-term idle placement of deep groove ball bearings exceeds the effective anti-rust storage period, and the lack of daily maintenance accelerates the corrosion of bearing parts;

3) Excessive surface roughness of the metal parts of deep groove ball bearings increases the contact area with external media and raises the risk of corrosion;

4) The surface of deep groove ball bearings is not thoroughly cleaned and remains stained with dirt, or the bearings are directly touched by sweaty hands. In addition, cleaned deep groove ball bearings left exposed to the air for a long time without timely packaging and installation will come into contact with corrosive chemical media, leading to surface contamination and corrosion;

5) Unreasonable ambient temperature and humidity as well as long-term contact with harsh environmental media will erode deep groove ball bearings. Meanwhile, failure or substandard quality of anti-rust agents will also greatly reduce the anti-corrosion ability of the bearings.
